Using exercise and nutrition apps or follow anything on your own is a waste!

I wanted to discuss a little bit about why all these fitness and nutritional apps are a waste of $ or space on your phone, this is coming from a trainer, me. For one opinion, all these are putting trainers and any health person out of a job because people are relying on stupid apps to guide them through their exercise routines, their calories and nutrition & to discipline themselves with it. Here's the truth about this phenomenon, these all still can't replace a human being instructing you on how to do proper push-ups, proper biceps curls, arm extensions, lat pull-downs to your chest, proper squats, especially with weights, or any type of exercise.

These apps can't show you or tell you which is more correct & why. Any joint movement exercise you do such as a push-up or squat for example, needs to be a 90 degree bend in the elbows or with the knees for the most part, unless your joints allow you to go further. It's about injury prevention, not hyper-extending or pushing your joints to the limit. I as a exercise specialist, holistic wellness coach, not a basic trainer, teach orthopedic strategies through the exercises, because later on as you get older you will feel the strain catching up to you

As fat as these nutritional apps, you gotta make sure it's teaching you about how many calories are in fat, carbohydrates and protein, not just total calories and be done with it. They need to teach you what percentage of each nutrient is required. It takes more time to rely on your phone to enter in all your data than to just write in on paper or do it in your heads.

Following any celebrity or fitness/body building icon can be risky because you limited control of your exercises as you follow a DVD or pictures. Again, you don't have the person physically in front of you observing your movements, making sure your exercises are safe and correct, the woman or man on the TV is only looking at their camera at you. When you complete these programs like p90x of insanity or Julian Michaels, etc, what's your next plan after that? You don't know how to exercise on your own, you don't know how to push youself to more levels, you don't know how to switch from just cardio to lifting weights properly. Even when you've lost weight and completed your diet plan, you'll be stuck because you don't know what else to do on your own.. Let's go back to old fashion personal training and nutrition!
